“Somberiety” or The Joy of the Lord?

Some days God makes writing this blog easy. Every part of my morning time points to one topic, and the evidence of the past few days backs it all up. Such is this day.

2 Corinthians 6:6 We show that we are God’s servants by our pure lives, by our understanding, by our patience, and by our kindness. We show it by the Holy Spirit, by genuine love, :7 by speaking the truth, and by depending on God’s power…

:4 But in every way we show that we are servants of God. We never give up, even though we face troubles, difficulties, and problems of every kind.

Proverbs 14:30 Peace of mind makes the body healthy, but jealously is like a cancer.

Colossians 2:23 These rules may seem to be wise as part of a made-up religion in which people pretend to be humble and punish their bodies. But they don’t help people stop doing the evil that the sinful self wants to do.

Nehemiah 8:10 Go and enjoy the good food and sweet drinks. Give some food and drinks to those who didn’t prepare any food. Today is a special day to our Lord. Don’t be sad, because the joy of the Lord will make you strong.

Joy of the Lord! Joy in the Lord! Joy in knowing the Lord! In knowing his truth! Live rejoicing, as at a festival of all God’s good things. Go then back to work but keep that joy alive and with you all the long day. Abstain from idleness and seek Him always (Refreshed in Christ, Houge), not with “somberiety” but joy!
