Daily Prompt: Shock

OK, it’s kind of a stretch, but I just have to get back to posting daily, so here goes:

What a shock to realize how long it’s been since I’ve done a Daily Prompt! Looking at my index, October 6 was the last time!

I knew there’d be some reduction in the frequency during the close of last year, but I wasn’t planning on that much.

A lot has happened since then. We’ve completed the downsizing move and are working on settling in. I have a desk in a room I call an office (and I’m sitting at it now). November had a major interruption of being hospitalized again.

But, those things are completed, and it’s time to get back to “work.”

Daily Prompt: Deny – The First of the Twelve Steps

Step 1: We admitted we were powerless over our addictions and compulsive behaviors, that our lives had become unmanageable.

Step One of any Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)-inspired addiction recovery program is all about denial; that is, stepping out of denial.

When it dawns on us that we have a real problem, a big problem, a really big problem, beyond our own ability to solve, we’re poised for Step One.

Actually, this is the starting point for any healing plan of action, from any obsessive, addictive, compulsive, or self-destructive habit.
