Step 2: We came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill His good purpose. (Philippians 2:13)
Principle 2: Earnestly believe that God exists, that I matter to him, and that He has the power to help me recover.
Happy are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. (Matthew 5:4)
The Serenity Prayer
God, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I can not change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time,
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardship as a pathway to peace;
taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it;
trusting that You will make all things right,
if I surrender to Your will;
so that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with You forever in the next.
